Voices & Votes:

Democracy in America

Voices & Votes: Democracy in America is a traveling
Smithsonian exhibition that explores the action, reaction,
vision, and revision that democracy demands as Americans continue to question how to shape our country. It traces the bold American experiment of a government run by and for the people, and examines the influences that shaped its early days and the changes that have occurred in the 250 years since.

The Voices & Votes exhibit will be accompanied by a local tie-in and we are looking for community member participation via art & artifacts.

“Our democracy demands action, reaction, vision, and revision as we continue to question how to form “a more perfect union.” From the revolution and suffrage, to civil rights and casting ballots, everyone in every community is part of this ever-evolving story – the story of democracy in America.”

We're looking for:

• Your water bottle covered with stickers, or a picture of your sticker covered cooler or car • Local election memorabilia • A yard sign, protest poster or flyer you shared to express yourself • A campaign poster from when you ran for student council in school. • Historical or current photos of friends and family using their voice. • Your ‘I voted’ stickers • Art for a Cause - did you design a Save Our Great Salt Lake poster for example? Make a zine? • Anything else that you think might fit!

Please send a photo of your object to marcadmin@moabcity.gov by April 30.

Due to limited space, we may not be able to accept all submissions, staff will reach out to you in early May with more information.  Objects would be on loan to the MARC from mid/late May through mid-August.
