INFORMATI0N

Moab Arts is calling for Public Art Proposals to be installed in the Spring of 2027. 

This call includes requests for a sculpture, a mural, and three crosswalk designs. 

SCULPTURE: The sculpture will be installed within the City of Moab on the NE corner of the MRAC property on 400 N. The sculpture should be tied to Moab in some way- however the artist would like to interpret this request. The budget for this sculpture is between $5,000-$10,000.

 

CROSSWALKS: Call for designs for three individual murals on the crosswalks of the 100 N & 100 E intersection, with the theme of “The Four Seasons.’' The northern crosswalk “winter”, western crosswalk “fall”, and southern crosswalk “summer.” MARC staff and the community will paint the eastern crosswalk, with a “spring” theme. Each section may be painted by a separate artist, and from $1,200-1,600 will be allocated to each section depending on size. If an artist would be interested in having the community help with the painting process, please include that in the application. Feel free to reach out to our staff with any questions.

 

MURAL: A mural on Kane Creek Blvd is requested on the concrete retaining wall outside of Mild To Wild Rafting & Jeep Tours. No specific theme is provided, however the mural should be relevant to Moab and the area surrounding the mural in some way. Funding for this project is up to $11,000.

STICKER DESIGNS: Designs for 1x1” or 1x2” designs for a sticker sheet. Designs can be new or existing work. Artists will be compensated $75 for each design. Sticker sheets will be used as prizes for those participating in the Moab Chamber’s Bandwango scavenger hunt program.

Preference is given to local and regional artists. Travel stipend, food costs, or lodging not provided.

Projects must be completed by June 2027.

APPROVED MURAL LOCATIONS: 

The 100E 100N crosswalk, & the retaining wall on Kane Creek Blvd in front of Mild to Wild Rafting & Jeep Tours. If you own, work with, or are aware of a business or site location in town that is interested in hosting a mural or piece of public art, please have them reach out to us at marcadmin@moabcity.gov or 435-259-6272.

APPLICATION WORKSHOP 

There will be two drop in days for answering questions about applying for public art funds held at the Moab Arts Center on November 9 & 10, 2026 from 12 p.m. - 6 p.m. This time will allow interested individuals to visit our downstairs office and ask any questions they have about public art applications.

Applicants Notified by: January, 2027

Work must be completed by: May 31, 2027
