About
Come experience the alchemy of finding the color blue! Using indigo extracted from the plant Indigofera Tinctoria, we will join the long tradition of natural dyeing that coaxes the elusive blue from plants. We will spend the afternoon setting up an indigo vat, learning the chemistry of the process, folding our white cotton objects into fun shapes with the Japanese technique of shibori, and dip dyeing them in the indigo vat, slowly deepening their color. Please bring a small white cotton item to dye, like a t shirt, pillowcase, or fabric scrap. All other materials will be provided.
Instructed by Abby Meyer.
