About
Theater returns to Moab! Moab Theater Project and Ephemeral Collective present WHEN WE WERE BOATS, a new play written and directed by Sam Van Wetter.
“When We Were Boats” tells the story of Bill Beer and fellow adventurer John Daggett, who swam the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon in 1955 using minimal gear to navigate its rapids. The production reimagines the journey through a small cast and creative staging, exploring themes of friendship, risk and the enduring connection between people and the river. The production is based on “We Swam the Grand Canyon: The True Story of a Cheap Vacation That Got a Little Out of Hand,” a memoir by Bill Beer recounting the expedition.
