Artist Statement: 
Miranda Black hails from the vibrant red desert landscapes of Moab, Utah. In 2010, she received the Deseret News Sterling Scholar in Visual Arts Scholarship. Miranda went on to attend Southern Utah University, where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in visual arts education in 2015. During her college studies, she was awarded the Distinguished Scholar in Visual Arts Education for her graduating class, demonstrating her sharp acumen for the subject, and presenting to the students of the Visual Arts Department.
 
At Southern Utah University, Miranda's graphite drawings were showcased during the University’s Festival of Excellence. She developed a deep passion for Art History, with a particular affinity for the American Modernism Movement and the works of the artist Georgia O’Keefe and architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Miranda has extended her passion for creativity beyond personal works of art and has previously dedicated time to teaching elementary and secondary art education.
 
Miranda's love for the great outdoors is evident in her artwork, which is often inspired by her adventures. She is an ardent explorer of a variety of art mediums, such as ink drawing, pastels, printmaking, watercolor, acrylic, oil, woodburning, jewelry making, and ceramics. Her favored mediums are ink, watercolor, and oil painting.
