Workshop Description:
Observe and mimic the form of any chosen critter with a detailed clay sculpture! Work with natural terracotta air dry clay and learn sculpture techniques to help with shape, anatomy, and gesture. Students should come with multiple reference images of their favorite animal to create their bust or full body figure. Expect to study the movement, personality, and details of the figure and imprint that onto the clay.
Instructor Bio:
Sea Star (they, she, he) is a mixed media sculptor from Philadelphia. Clay, trash, glass, plastic, and paper are a few of the materials you will find in Sea’s art that visually echoes the natural environment around them. Sea has taught at The Clay Studio, Cassie’s Craft Coven, Haystack Mountain School of Craft, and Pocosin School of Art.
