Learn the basics of intaglio printmaking! Intaglio is a category of printmaking that includes historic techniques like etching and engraving. It translates well for artists whose work utilizes an emphasis on line or is drawing-based. This class includes an overview of the history and different types of intaglio before diving into a beginner-friendly drypoint project. Everyone will be able to print from their plate, experiment with ink application methods, and discuss different materials and resources as we go through the full printmaking process together.
About the Instructor: Hi, I'm Jess. Intaglio printmaking and work related to that process has been my focus for the past couple of years, although I've been working on printmaking and illustration in various forms since around 2010. During my time in Moab I've been working on developing accessible methods for at-home intaglio printmaking with tools made from reclaimed/recycled materials.
