This class will focus on recreating the visual effect of traditional Japanese raku pottery, but on a gourd instead. The "faux" aspect means achieving this look without a kiln and the traditional raku firing process, using metallic acrylic paints and a textured medium to mimic the effects.
Come explore this unique art technique of layering in many colors to achieve the look of raku pottery! Each oil lamp will be completely unique as we combine our rainbow of colors.
Janice is proud to offer this distinct art form from such a natural medium. This class will let you take home, or give as a gift a beautiful Raku-looking gourd oil lamp. All materials are provided, comes with the oil insert, ready to fill and light when you get home!
